The Blue Coast
At the Dior Cruise 16 show in Cannes we had the opportunity to explore the South of France and below are some of our top picks from the Côte D’Azur. Hire a car, take your time exploring seaside towns.
See... Chapelle du Rosaire de Vence. In the town of Vence sits a tiny chapel known as the Matisse Chapel. Built in 1949-51, everything was chosen and designed by Matisse, from the yellow and blue stained glass to the black line drawings on the whitewashed walls.
Then... Fondation Maeght. This private gallery in Saint-Paul de Vence has modern and contemporary works. Wander through the beautiful sculpture garden where sun streams through the trees.
Stay... At La Colombe d’Or. This small hotel in Saint-Paul de Vence began life as a café in the 1920s. Over the years, artists such as Miro, Braque, Chagall have met and stayed here, each adding to the hotel’s art collection. Sit and drink out on the terrace, soaking in the Côte D’Azur sunshine.
Eat... At Restaurant Tetou. Open from March to October, this famous seafood restaurant boats the best bouillabaisse on the coast. Sit overlooking the sea eating freshly caught fare. These are the days you wont forget.
