Queenstown. It creeps into your soul as soon as your plane descends amid snow-capped mountains. Skiing may first come to mind with the South Island but Queenstown has more to offer: from simply admiring the awe-inspiring view to food and wine, it’s not just powder snow that draws the crowds. RUSSH found their headquarters in The Spire Hotel for a shoot at the start of winter. A boutique hotel in the heart of Queenstown, small enough to feel homely yet all the amenities you could wish for such as a cosy fire lit bar. The winter chill was abated with fireside wines and large bathtubs. At night the crew sampled the best of Queenstown’s restaurants at Rãtã Dining and Madam Woo: Rãtã Dining gave us sophisticated comfort food such as New Zealand lamb and Madam Woo gave us Chinese and Malay style street food.
The RUSSH crew flew to Queenstown with Air New Zealand. Air New Zealand flies non-stop year round to Queenstown from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane with daily connections also available via Auckland and Christchurch. Visit airnewzealand.com.au for more info.
